Frequently asked questions
Why does it give me the same text every time?
Because that is more useful than it sounds. Repeatable output means a mockup keeps the same text when you regenerate it, a screenshot stays comparable, and two people with the same settings see the same thing. If you want something different, change the seed: each seed gives its own text and always gives that same text back.
What is the seed for?
It is the number that decides which text you get. Think of it as choosing which sample rather than rolling dice. Seed 1 and seed 2 produce completely different filler, and returning to seed 1 brings the first one back.
Is Lorem Ipsum real Latin?
No, and that is deliberate. It is scrambled Latin, loosely derived from Cicero, designed to look like language without being readable. That is exactly what you want in a layout: if the filler were readable, reviewers would start editing the words instead of looking at the design.
Does the classic opening change how much text I get?
No. The count always means what it says. With the opening switched on it replaces the beginning of the text rather than being added to it, so ten words are still ten words.
