Limits worth keeping in mind
Each platform has its own caps. Honoring them is not optional if you want your content to be displayed in full. Here are the most common ones.
| Context | Limit | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| SEO title in Google | 55 to 60 chars | Above 60, Google usually truncates with an ellipsis. |
| Meta description | 150 to 160 chars | Overflow gets clipped on the SERP. Useful summary falls out. |
| Tweet (X) | 280 chars | URLs count as 23, regardless of real length. |
| Email subject | 45 to 50 chars | Mobile clients clip earlier than desktop. |
| Instagram bio | 150 chars | No visible line breaks beyond 4 real lines. |
| LinkedIn post | 3000 chars | The feed only shows the first 210 chars before 'see more'. |

TextFrequently asked questions
How does it count words?
A word is any sequence of characters separated by spaces, line breaks or punctuation. The tool follows the standard criterion used by word processors such as Google Docs or Word.
Does it count spaces as characters?
We show two numbers: characters with spaces and characters without spaces. If you're checking a social-network limit, the with-spaces counter is usually the one you care about.
How is the reading time calculated?
We assume an average reading speed of 230 words per minute for an adult reading on screen. If your audience reads faster or slower, the real time may vary slightly.
Does it handle accents and special characters?
Yes. The tool works in Unicode, so words with accents, ñ or characters from any language count as one word each.
