What this tool does
Every photo carries hidden metadata: the camera make and model, the exact date and time, exposure settings, and often the GPS coordinates of where it was taken. This tool reads all of that straight from the JPEG bytes and shows it in a clear table, then lets you download a clean copy with the metadata stripped out. The removal is lossless: instead of re-encoding the picture like most online tools do, it edits the JPEG segment list to drop the EXIF, XMP and comment blocks while copying the compressed image data byte for byte. Your clean photo looks pixel for pixel identical to the original, just without the metadata. Everything happens on your device, so the photo never leaves your browser.

Frequently asked questions
What metadata does it remove?
The clean copy drops the EXIF block (camera, date, exposure and GPS), any XMP packet, IPTC and Photoshop records, and JPEG comments. The JFIF header and the ICC color profile are kept so the photo still displays with the right colors.
Does removing metadata reduce image quality?
No. This is a lossless strip. The compressed image data is copied byte for byte, so the cleaned photo is pixel for pixel identical to the original. Tools that re-encode the image on a server lose a little quality every time; this one never does.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The whole process runs in your browser with plain JavaScript. Your photo is read locally and never sent to a server, which is why there is no size limit and no waiting.
Why can GPS data be a privacy risk?
Phones often tag each photo with the exact latitude and longitude where it was taken. Anyone with the file can read those coordinates and see, for example, where you live or work. Removing the metadata deletes that trail.
Which file types are supported?
The viewer and remover work with JPEG photos (.jpg and .jpeg), the format that carries EXIF from almost every phone and camera. PNG and WebP files rarely hold EXIF, so they are out of scope here.
